True to her new name, the bride wanted her flowers to be green and yellow, with white accents. This bouquet had a springtime attitude that made it look like it could've been thrown together on the way to the church - nonchalant, yet composed with class.

Bryan Melgar

It's always an honor to be able to work on funeral flowers for someone. People use funeral flowers as a way to honor the person's most admirable qualities. This particular time, I worked on the funeral of Bryan Melgar, who died of Cancer at the age of 18. As I worked with the family to prepare for the funeral, I learned that Bryan, who'd had cancer since a young boy, who even though he'd gone through surgeries every month since 6 years old, still graduated high school at the top of his class. He loved sports even though it was a rare occasion for him to actually participate. He was brave, honest, and pure.

Fischer Wedding - Our 3rd red and white this year!

I lucked out on this one. 


1) Jenni was a wonderful bride to work with and I'm sad it's over!  
2) She added purple to her red and white floral scheme to keep things spicy. 
3) We used Soutine/Red Intuition Roses - they're striped and I'm a total sucker for them!
4) HUGE thanks to Tacie at T. Wright Photography (click it, yo) for taking these refreshing shots! I forgot my camera, but Tacie was very kind in swiftly handing me a business card with a reassuring "No problem, I can email you the pictures." Whoo...

They had their ceremony and reception in a beautiful location next to a babbling brook up the canyon (the drive up was gorgeous!), so I wanted to capture a romantic, yet slightly wild look with the bouquet. Italian Ruscus did the trick. The couple also opted to have the aisle sprinkled with petals, to add to the romantic backdrop.

5 red Tulips sculpted inside of a volcano vase with black river rocks, and a few blades of lily grass swirled around the inside.

Dane and Brittany Thorley

One of my favorite color combinations: Bronze, Navy Blue, and White.

It's one of those combinations that's tried and true, but still so beautiful. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to work on this wedding for Brittany and Dane. This was the first time I got to work with Mokara orchids which were so beautiful and precisely the color I needed for this particular wedding. I had a great time working with these flowers!

Charlotte & CJ McKinney!

This couple is so cute! Charlotte and CJ have been together for 6 years! That seems so long to me! Of course, they finally got engaged and their wedding was gorgeous. Took place at McCoards Nursery in Provo and I loved Charlotte's colors. Classic, chic, simple. Pastel-ish green, Champagne Pink, and Ivory with a touch of black accent.

These were some of my favorites to deal with so far. The boutonnieres and corsages and hairpiece were a delight to work on. :)

Adell and Josh were married this past Saturday in the Manti Temple.

A traditional red and white wedding. She chose her main flower to be red and white gerbera daisies with her own bouquet being distinctive flowers from the rest. Courtney and I had the experience of going to the reception center to arrange all of the flowers. We even had enough flowers to make a garland for the arch way that the bride and groom were going to stand under during their reception! Courtney is the garland master!

Luckily for us at The Fleurist, my husband David was a photographer at the wedding as well so as I may not have pictures of the garland right away, rest assured, pictures will come of how everything turned out. Don't those roses look divine??

"Take 3" the First!

This week, we arranged what Angie coined a "flower date". Which is basically, getting together, buying some flowers, and going nuts. With no stipulations, except in regards to limitation of materials, we were each able to create something very personal! It's wonderful to see how we created things so distinct from the same elements.

As we have more of these sessions, it will be helpful for our customers to choose which designer they would like, as they can see our styles in reference to one another.

Back to the good stuff - yellow/orange Parrot Tulips, orange Ranunculus, hot pink Gladiolus, cream Spray Roses, cream Stock, light pink Ginestra, Bupleurum.

Those looped glad blades have a clean, au naturale feel. I think they hit up a little bit Asian, too. That Angie, so resourceful!

 

Erika - Fresh Picked
Erika has a wonderful talent for making things look fresh, free, and without reform. The linear ribbon treatment on the stems restores a little bit of order.

Kussee Wedding

She wanted something something fresh...something modern, but with the weighted palette of red, cream, and black - yellow added for zest. A clean and refined assortment was devised: fresh she got!

The couple printed a few pictures from after the ceremony to display at the reception, and the bouquet photographed extremely well. The colors are quietly bold, the texture defined - making for a substantial subject. 

Yellow Cymbidiums, Akito Roses, Black Magic Ti Leaf, red Anenomes, white Pixie Carnations, red Kangaroo Paw. Stems finished with black sheer ribbon and pearlized pins.

(Left Boutonniere) Red Anenomes, yellow Feverfew, Black Magic Ti Leaf loops. Stems finished with black sheer ribbon and wrapped in red wire. 

(Right Boutonniere) Akito rose, yellow Feverfew, red Kangaroo Paw, Black Magic Ti Leaf loops. Stems finished in a likewise fashion. 

Corsages (not shown): Same items as the boutonnieres, white Alstromeria with yellow hues added. 

Cymbidiums suspended in a square, glass vase by coiled wire. It was stunning inside of the reception hall (too dark to photograph, unfortunately). This idea would be so adaptable to any scheme because the wire comes in a wide variety of colors. A softer look could be obtained by using a round vase and wired ribbon. A set of three would make for an breathtaking center piece. So simple and so chic.

The whites in this bouquet are appear very soft, so they contrast well with the tulip foliage, dahlias, and the fringe of the parrot tulips.

Gale Wedding: Orange, Blue, and Ivory

When first approached with the colors "Burnt Orange" and "Navy", I'll admit- I was...hesitant. In the end, we created a lavish autumn assortment with appealing texture.

With a color combination such as navy and orange, the initial reaction in one's head is usually something like "CLASH CLASH CLASH" or "GO BRONCOS!". Usually, color experimentation is half the fun of floristry, but when I see bouquets where they've used orange Gerbera Daisies and Delphinium, I think there are better ways to go about such palettes. 

In this bouquet, I stuck with orange as the base floral color, and just used ribbon to tie in the navy. On the boutonnieres, we wrapped the stems in ivory ribbon and crimped navy boullion wire (I think I'll stick with straight wire next time I wrap, though).  

Now for the ingredients-

As the bride was using little pumpkins, fall-esque pasta and such for her centerpieces, the feel was an autumn one. Orange, red, and yellow. We loved(x3)! using the yellow Mini Callas in here. They really brighten up the look. The Mango Callas sit nestled amongst bunches of red Waxflower and fluffy bits of yellow Solid Aster. I think the Solid Aster adds a wonderful touch of texture, as I said - fluffy! Miss Erika did a wonderful job with those Lily Grass loops, don't you think?
